Just got back from NAGA took first in GI and second in no GI. Finally got that belt I worked so hard for I’m super sore.
It’s one week from the tournament this is a week of rest were we try to do as much drilling as we can. And not so much strainuous workouts but still keeping our body’s moving so were ready for the big day, were fresh and ready. I feel like mental preparation is as big a part as the physical. You have to go out there and make your gameplan happen because if you wait they have the beginning advantage. One of my favorite quotes is “if you go into a fight thinking about what the other person is going to do to you then you have already lost”.
Today was a special day because Gary, and Bruce got there purple belts and Justin got his blue.
It’s good to train with new people because you learn different moves and different styles.thats why every Saturday some of the guys go down to the police academy. People from different gyms go there and there’s lots of wrestlers so it’s good to go down there and see what works on certain people and certain styles and what doesn’t.
1 week till the tournament getting pumed ready to go out there and do it. Whenever I try to sleep I’m sitting there thinking about the tournament and I catch myself clinching my fists and I have to tell myself to calm down. I’m just so ready to do this
Today I was watching my videos from my past tournaments and I realized the mistakes I made. But today while we were sparring I thought about it and I realized that I don’t make those same mistakes anymore. Which makes me feel good knowing that I’m progressing in the sport. I still have a lot to learn and a long way to go. But I feel like there’s no way I can lose this tournament. Of course I know there’s always a chance of defeat but I don’t feel like a kid my weight and my size is going to stop me when I train with such a fantastic team and spar with those grow men on a daily basis.
For this tournament I plan in playing my top game. I had planed on working my guard but I was thinking at the tournament everyone in the expert division was pulling guard. So I thought what beats a good bottom game? A great top game, since everybody is so used to others playing the guard game and that’s what they drill for then I’m going to play top I’ve been working on my throws, shots, and guard passes. I want to get to a point were I can smash the guard it doesn’t matter what type of guard I just want to pass it with ease.
Ever since I watched LJ,Chris, and Bruce fight I just can’t get fighting out of my head. The whole reason I started training was because I wanted to be a UFC fighter. And I still do that’s my ultimate goal. But I have to wait till I’m 16 till I can fight MMA but ever since those fights watching them walk out to the cage face there opponent eye to eye and having the ref say are you ready are you ready fight!!!I just can’t wait.
One of my favorite quotes is this ” In order to love this sport you have to hate it.” Which means in order to be rich and famous and living the high life you have to train threw blood, sweat, and tears. It means you have to train so much and so hard that you never want to train again. But you do and that’s what makes you physically and mentally strong.Because no one can do any thing to you that your training hasent already done.
This weekend 3 of our guys from the gym all fought.Bruce,Chris h,and LJ all won by TKO.
